Kenya holidays-Labour day

Labour Day or Labor Day is an annual holiday celebrated all over the world that resulted from the labour union movement, to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers. The majority of countries celebrate Labour Day on May 1, and it is popularly known as May Day and International Workers' Day , with One notable exception is the United States, where Labor Day falls on the first Monday of September.

The celebration of Labour Day has its origins in the Eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer.. Today, Labor Day is often regarded as a day of rest and parades.

Speeches or political demonstrations are more low-key than May 1 Labour Day celebrations in most countries, although events held by labor organizations often feature political themes and appearances by candidates for office, especially in election years. Forms of celebration varies from  different people, religion, parades, culture among other customs but mostly include picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays, water sports, day outs and public art events.
