Kenyatta Day is a day celbrating Kenya's freedom, named after their founding president Jomo Kenyatta.it is celebrated on 20 october in honour of the first president of Kenya.

Kenyatta was not only visionary leader but a brave & intelligent man who led the locals fight through the tough British colonialists leading to the Independence of a free Kenya ruled by the Kenyans. The day is also honored to the all heroes who died fighting for independence.

Many Kenyans who live in cities travel to rural areas to visit and celebrate with family members. Celebrations include eating, drinking, and dancing in homes, bars, and nightclubs. On such occasions, Nyama Choma (roasted meat) is a common treat. Goat or beef is consumed.
